SUMMER READING PART II

Share what you've been reading. I'm making my way through "Eat the Document". It is good--I just haven't been reading as much as I like to in the summer.

  1. Finished Eat the Document--good stories intertwined with a believable culmination where everything comes together. Reading The Last Lecture now.
    Dubby--where are you?

  3. I'm currently reading The Uglies. Freddie- it is a good book.

  4. Finished The Uglies. That was a really good book, and I can't wait to read the sequels. Of course, I have to read our summer reading eventually, and the dreaded APUSH book. :( I finally have the next Maximum Ride waiting for me at the library and we are going today. I heard they are going to kill Fang off in the next book. I'll cry if they do.

  5. Finished the Pretties. I don't like where this is heading, and now that I found out what happens to Zane in the next, I really, really don't want to read it. But I have to, because the series is amazing and I NEED to know what happens next. I think I'll take a break though and read one of the other books I got. It's called The Summoning. Ooo, scary right? It's about a mansion full of dead people, or something like that.

  6. O.k I read The Summoning, and it was just like I said. There were werewolves and people who could burn things with their hands, and the main character can see ghosts. It was actually a very nice book. The book is a little creepy though, so be forewarned.

  7. I am reading Ordinary People. I am so confused.

  8. Finished The Last Lecture. I want everyone I know to read it! Reading The Sunday Philosophy Club. Can't seem to lose myself in it, but it's an easy read. What are your questions about Ordinary People?

  9. It's more of the fact that the author writes it funny, and I never can keep up on who is being talked about. That, and I yet to figure out what is going on.

  10. I guess I am understanding the book more. It even is becoming a little intresting for me. I have figured out that the guy is depressed, and he and his family are coping through it. I also figured out that almost every chapter it changes form Conrad's view to his dad's. I still don't like how the author is writing it though.

  11. Finally finished the book, and I thought it was pretty good. I still don't like how the author wrote it, and I cringed every time good was used in place of well. Other than that, it was a very good, thought provoking book. Now I have to read my APUSH book. :(

  12. Ha. Funny that you should mention your APUSH book megan! I just used HEINOUS in answering one of my questions. YAY!!! I have no idea why I'm excited about this, but I am. Anyway....it's a good book with a lot of excelent points, it just takes a while to get through. Especially with my busy schedule.

Oh Well. Going on vacation to Williamsburg later this week so I hope to get a lot of reading done to and from in the car.

Hope everyone is having an awesome summer.

  13. You know I was just thinking, where has Matt been? You had like one post and then dropped of the face of the earth. Instead of APUSH book, I'm reading the Catcher In the Rye, or whatever the title is. Thanks Stephanie!

  14. I thought Ordinary People was bad at the beginning, but I ended up liking it in the end a lot. I really don't think that's the case with the Catcher in the Rye. The guy doesn't care about anything, and I dislike with a passion how the author combines words and cusses every other word. He also tells pointless stories where I can see that the author is trying to sound like some whiny teenager, but it just doesn't work for me. Please tell me it gets better like Ordinary People.

  15. O.k I realised I sound like the whiny teenager in that last post. Sorry 'bout that. I didn't mean for it to be whiny.

  16. I'm back! Sorry 'bout not checking in. I've now read Twilight and My Sister's Keeper. I'm starting Peace Like A River. As to the summer reading books, Ordinary People is one of my favorites of all time so, No, I don't think that Catcher in the Rye gets better like OP. BUT...I do think that Catcher is a book that is appreciated more after it is discussed. I think the two books are good to compare (hence my assignment!)...I like that they are both from a teenage boy's perspective, both dealing with grief and tragedy, both dealing with family relations and communication (or lack thereof).

  17. Finished New Moon...anxiously awaiting reading Eclipse. Loved the references to Romeo and Juliet in the Twilight Series. Reading Columbine right now...intriguing and upsetting.

  18. Finished Catcher In The Rye. Does anyone know if the questions for APUSH are online? I made the stupid mistake of setting it on the counter.

  19. 1st chapter done for Lies. It's funny because I always fall asleep reading it.

  20. Slowly working my way through Lies one chapter at a time. Of course every chapter is about 30 pages long. The author has a lot of good points, but he likes to say the same stuff over and over and over again. I'm beginning to think that the praises on the cover were taken out of context. lol :)

  21. Finished "reading" APUSH! Terrible book, wouldn't recommend it. My neighbor sent over a bunch of books that I love, so I think I'll read those next after the Specials

  22. So I kinda fell like I'm talking to myself :(
